What is New England Early Genealogy Connections?

This is the first effort to CONNECT and INTERCONNECT all names into a single database from the early New England period of 1600+/- to 1700+/-. (Not just a list of names or specific pedigrees). No individual name is included unless it has at least one connection to another, (often with multiple connections) through father, mother, son, daughter, spouse, sister, brother with accompanying basic data when available: birth, death, marriage dates, towns of residence, citations documenting sources. A particular aim of the project is to facilitate the search for female surnames of wives and mothers known only by their given and/or married names.

Major references used are among the most respected and widely recognized in the field of genealogy in the United States which then lead to original sources. Extensive cross-checking is done to correct inconsistencies, update data and make the database as accurate and up-to-date as possible. For a list of sources click here.

How can use of this database help in both family and professional genealogists' research? By saving time and money spent searching through many, varied sources for early New England data endeavoring to find possible connections. When a connection is found the name can then be followed up by referencing the sources cited to verify information and locate more detail in original sources. The scope of the project is so extensive that usually only basic data can be included.
